BF Clubs are Here

An activity fee of $100 will be charged for Clubs. Students may join as many clubs as they like for the flat one-time fee.
All students should contact the Advisor for each club they would like to join in order to get the google classroom code.

Morning Basketball/Open Gym -
Tuesdays/Fridays 7am-7:45am

Fall Running Club - starting in October
The Running Club is an opportunity for students of varying abilities to train together and gain confidence. During practice athletes will learn the proper way to stretch/warm-up and will run varying distances around the BF track. Contact Ms. Tanella

Brain Busters - Wednesdays 3-4pm in Room 207
Brain Busters is a club for all students interested in general knowledge trivia. We meet in school on a biweekly basis and compete once a month against other schools near us, during the school day. At the end of the year, we participate in the county competition where we compete against several different schools throughout Bergen County. Any 7th/8th grade student that likes trivia and likes to think fast, Brain Busters is the club for you. New members are always welcome. Email Ms. Giordano or Ms. Sutera for more information.

Certamen Club (8th Graders Only) - 3 Day during Homeroom
Certamen, sponsored by the NJ Junior Classical League, is a Latin version of Brainbusters or Quiz Bowl. Certamen questions cover a broad range of categories including Mythology, History, Grammar, Culture, and Literature. The BF 8th grade team will prepare in school and join the high school Certamen teams at 2-3 competitions in the winter and spring. For more information, contact Ms. Scheckel

Chamber Orchestra - Tuesdays in Orchestra Room

BF Voices - starting mid October 3-3:45pm in Room B8

Social Services - in Room 228
The Social Services Club is a community out-reach club. Members are involved in donating time for fundraising for local, national and international causes, and collecting food for local Organizations such as the Social Services Association and the Center for Food Action. Our biggest project is the Paterson Holiday Gift Drive which we do each December. The club is open to all grades. Please email Ms. Skettini for more Information.

French Club-Wednesdays 3-4pm in Room 126
The French Club (cercle français) is an active, enthusiastic group of students who enjoy French and cultural activities related to the language. The French Club will meet 2 to 3 times a month in order to experience the culture and civilization of France and other French speaking countries outside the classroom, and to provide an opportunity for socialization to students with similar interests. The students will hold themed "tastings" of French Food (cheeses, desserts, etc.), view a French film (once a year), do some fun activities to recognize and celebrate the French Speaking world, discover and play games specific to francophone countries. Students will be invited to research and contribute with ideas on other interesting activities. Contact Madame Spicer for more information.

Spanish Club - starting October 9 in Room 124
To promote awareness and appreciation of the Hispanic World, language, music and food. Students will be immersed in the culture of various Spanish Speaking countries. Students will be involved in hands-on activities to continue fostering the interest for the Spanish language. If interested, please email Mrs. Gill

Journalism Club - starting in October in Room 204
The BF Journalism club will be an extension of our Journalism classes and an opportunity for young journalists to write for the online newspaper the BF Bolt. Develop your own writing style while researching stories of your choosing. All work is completely student driven. Work closely with the teacher to write what you want whether that be an interview, news story, editorial or something else.
The only limit is your imagination. Meeting times will be determined once the group meets. See Mr. Ordini for more information.

Motorhead Club - Thursdays starting in October
Come join me in B9 and learn hands on how to assemble and build small motors. See how they work, learn a new skill and have fun. If interested, see Mr. Wu

Green Club - Wed. 3-3:30pm starting Sept. 25 in Room 202
Come and help your environment and community. Work in our very own greenhouse. Turn your thumb into a green one! Email Ms. Geraghty or Ms. Powell to join.

BF Play - December 4th and 5th in Auditorium
The BF Players program at Benjamin Franklin Middle School involves an exciting opportunity for students to participate in the school's musical production. Commitment is essential, as students are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances.
Auditions will be held on December 4th and 5th, 2024, with callback auditions on December 11th. Regular rehearsals will begin on January 8th, 2025, and continue weekly on Wednesdays, with some additional rehearsals for leads on Thursdays. Tech week and final rehearsals take place in late April, and the performances are scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2025. Email Mr. Dabby or Mrs. Kawash if you have any questions.

Cambodia Club/TEEEM
The Cambodia Club is back at BF Middle School with the collaboration of TEEEM. TEEEM (The Empathy, Equality, Entrepreneurship Mission) -- is a local non-profit organization that teaches students about global issues and humanitarianism through empathy and entrepreneurship. The Ridgewood Cambodia Project, which spans five local schools - including Ridgewood High, GW, Ridge, Willard, and now BF - has been supporting education in rural Cambodia for over 15 years. Originally founded by Ridgewood students to build a middle school in Cambodia, the project now funds both that school and a neighboring elementary school.
TEEEM Cambodia Club members at BF will help raise money, learn about Cambodian culture, and connect with students abroad. Through fundraising, the project provides English teachers, computers, internet, school supplies, and even classroom renovations for the schools in Cambodia.
The club, led by Madame Spicer, will meet twice a month. Excitingly, a special guest speaker, Arn Chorn Pond, is scheduled to visit in October. If interested, email Madame Spicer.

Writing Club - October 10 3-4pm in Room 110
If you have a passion for writing, this club is for you. All genres of writing, such as nonfiction, fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, opinion, horror, and more will be examined. We will write our stories, share tips, and give each other feedback and advice. Google Classroom will be used to upload our stories so others can read and enjoy. If the member feels confident in their writing, they can also have help on submitting the writing to contests, newspapers, magazines, etc. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Gilbert

Cooking Club - Wednesdays 3:00-4:30 in BF Kitchen near Room 101
Come be part of the Cooking Club! Learn the basics of cooking and try some delicious recipes! We will make some classic Italian dishes as well as many "teen favorites" like quesadillas, tacos, pizza and much more! We will also bake some yummy treats like cookies, brownies and homemade cannolis!
PLEASE NOTE: This club has a limit on how many students can join due to the size of our kitchen. Only 12 students at one time for safety reasons. There will be a sign up sheet in the main office. This is a first come, first serve basis – No Exceptions.
Also,if you have any other commitment before 4:30 PM on Wednesdays, do not sign up. Hope to see you there! Our first meeting will be October 9 at 3:00 PM. We will meet each week until about 4:30 PM. Cooking takes time! Please email Mrs. Cermack with any questions you may have.

Homework Helpers Club starting October 10th in Cafe
Homework Helpers club will be meeting every Thursday from 3:25-4:15 in the BF cafeteria. All 6th, 7th, or 8th graders are welcomed. Students can get free tutoring from RHS students in all subject areas. Please contact Ms. Cermack with any questions.

BF Cares -Fridays in Cafe
Join BF Cares and help make your school a better place! Hang posters, take down posters, assemble and move furniture, help with tasks at school. For more information, email Mr. Wu

Book Group - starting Tuesday, October 8 at 3pm in the Library
The book club is where readers can gather together to discuss their favorite novels. Joining the book club helps students reduce stress by reading for fun, encourages members to consider new perspectives, and meet new people with similar interests. Sports Talk with Mrs. Cigs every other Wednesday starting Oct. 4
Do you love sports? Join us in Room 107 every other Wednesday from 3-4pm where we will break down weekly games, make predictions, and share our thoughts on our favorite teams (baseball, football, basketball, hockey, etc). In addition, get ready to test your sports trivia with some fun games.

BF Diversity Club - during lunch/Homeroom in Room 209
The BF Diversity Club is for students who are interested in spreading the message of diversity and equity in our school. Students will learn about different cultures and communities in an effort to enhance empathy and become leaders in creating inclusion and acceptance for everyone regardless of gender, race, ability, or sexuality . Lego Club - Tuesdays - 3pm in Room 203 starting in October
Do you love building and completing challenges with a team? Join the Lego Club! Together, we will work together to build different structures using legos. Members should bring their own legos on the days of meetings. Please email Ms. Misko with any questions.

Meditation - Mondays 3:15 to 4:00pm starting in October
Meditation is one of the most dynamic exercises of calming the mind to remain focused. The practice of training the mind to focus is the most beneficial effect. It helps you to remain alert but calm, to eliminate unwanted/negative thoughts and feelings and daily stress. TREP$ Club - Tuesdays starting Oct. 15 in Cafe (students must be pre-registered to join - limited to 175 students -- information will be shared in homeroom)
What is TREP$?
The TREP$ Club helps students in middle school learn how to start their own business in 6-8 weeks and encourages students to bring their ideas to life for real profit!
When will the TREP$ club meet?
The club will meet from 3-4 pm on six (+one optional) Tuesdays beginning October 15th. Meetings will begin in the cafeteria. See full schedule in packet given out in homerooms the week of October 7th.
What is the TREP$ Marketplace?
The club will meet for a series of workshops that help students develop their product or service that they wish to sell. The students will then sell their products at a school-wide marketplace. Students keep all the money they make from their product. This year’s Marketplace will be held on the night of Tuesday, December 10th in the BFMS gymnasium (in case of snow day it will be December 17th).

Fish Tank Club - Room 127 (starting in December)
Learn the lifelong hobby of fishkeeping. You will learn and experience how to set up and maintain Fish Aquariums. We will start the first week of December Tuesday, Dec 3rd. See Mr. Mahler if you have any questions.

Mental Health Awareness - Thursdays starting in January, 3-3:45pm
The BFMS Mental Health Club is a safe and supportive space for students to come together and learn about mental health, practice self-care, and support one another. Middle school can be a challenging time, and we believe that promoting mental well-being is crucial for success both in and out of the classroom. Our club is dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and providing resources for better mental health. Together, we can contribute to a healthier and happier middle school experience for all. Pokemon Club - starting January 15, 2025 from 3:00-4:00pm in Room 114

Ping Pong Club - in the Dance Room (Starting in March 2025)
